Privacy policy
The short version. We don’t collect your data, or your children’s. There’s no account to create, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Your family’s chores, names and photos live on your iPhone, iPad or Mac and in your own private iCloud account. We can’t see them.
If you share your farm, the people you invite see it through Apple’s iCloud sharing. It still never reaches us.
Who we are
The app is published by MK Media Group LLC, doing business as Kummer Homestead, Chattooga County, Georgia, USA (“we”, “us”). Questions about this policy: [email protected].
Where your records are kept
Everything you enter, including the people on your farm (their names, colors, emoji, PINs and allowance amounts), places, jobs and their schedules, which jobs were done, skipped or checked, by whom and when, notes and photos, guide pages, water and power shut-offs, the contacts you type in (names and phone numbers), trips and reports from the farm, approved days and invoices, and your farm’s settings, is stored:
- On your device, and
- In your private iCloud database, if you’re signed in to iCloud, so it syncs between your own devices. Apple stores this data under your Apple Account. We have no access to it. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
PINs are four digits that keep kids out of the grown-ups’ settings and each other’s lists. They are stored with your records like everything else; don’t use one you use anywhere else.
How each device is used (a grown-up’s, a shared family device, or one kid’s own) is kept on that device only.
Your farm’s location
To time reminders by sunrise and sunset, the app needs roughly where your farm is. You can type it in, or tap the button in Settings → Times of day, and the app asks once for permission to use your location. It keeps only the farm’s position, rounded to about a kilometer (half a mile), with your farm’s settings. Sunrise and sunset are worked out on your device. The app never follows your location in the background.
Reminders, the widget, Siri and the other apps
- Reminders are scheduled on your device by the app; no server sends them. Which ones a device gets is set on that device.
- The widget shows today’s jobs from a short summary the app keeps on your device for it.
- Siri and Shortcuts (mark a job done, what’s left) run on your device and read or add to your own records.
- Flock and Grazing: if you use our other apps on the same device, Chores reads the jobs they list and writes a short list of linked jobs done in the last 60 days (which job, who did it, when, and any count or note) to a shared space on that device, so the other app can record it. It never leaves your device that way.
What the app sends to other services
The app has no server of ours to talk to. None of these receive your name, email, records or any ID that identifies you to us.
| Service | What is sent | When |
|---|---|---|
| Apple (App Store) | Your purchase, handled by Apple; we see no name or payment details | Only if you subscribe to Family or Farm |
| Your phone app | The number you tapped | Only when you tap a call button in the guide |
| A video site you link | What your browser sends when you open any web link | Only when you open a guide page’s video link |
Printing and exporting
The printed guide, a trip’s checklist, an invoice and the spreadsheet export are made on your device. They go only where you send, save or print them.
Photos and the camera
You can add a photo to a done job, a guide page, a shut-off or a report, taken with the camera or picked from your photo library. The app asks before it uses the camera, and from your library it can see only the photos you pick. Each photo is made smaller and kept with your other records, on your device and in your private iCloud database, and, if you share your farm, with the people you invited. It is never sent anywhere else.
Children
Chores is made for families, and children use it to see and tick off their own jobs. A parent or other grown-up sets up the farm, adds each child, and decides which devices they use and what those devices can do.
- We don’t collect personal information from anyone who uses the app, children included. What a child enters, such as a tick, a count, a note or a photo, is kept with the family’s own records as described above.
- Children don’t create an account, and purchases go through the App Store, where Apple’s own parental controls apply. An invoice a child sends goes only to the grown-ups on the same farm, inside the app.
- There are no ads and no analytics. The only ways out of the app are the guide’s call buttons and video links, with numbers and links a grown-up typed in.
A parent can see and change everything about their child in the app. To remove it all, delete the app’s data as described below.
What we don’t do
- We don’t collect personal information.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we don’t sell or share data.
- We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
If you email us, we’ll use your email only to reply.
Deleting your data
- Deleting the app removes the copy on that device.
- To remove the iCloud copy as well: on your iPhone or iPad, Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage (on a Mac, System Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage), then delete the data for Chores.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s handling of data changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
